Fishing in the Gulf Region

The number one hotspot for fishing in the Gulf of Carpentaria is King Ash Bay approximately 50km from Borroloola on the McArthur River. This is the ideal base to get amongst the range of fishing environments from riverine, to estuarine, to island and reef.

King Ash Bay Fishing Club offers a range of facilities including service station, groceries, licensed club and bistrot, cabins, bed & breakfast, powered and unpowered campsites and even houseboats.

Lorella Springs Wilderness Park is off the Nathan River Road section of the Savannah Way. It is a million acre cattle station with more than 80 bodies of fresh water including several beautiful thermal springs.

Seven Emu Station is a cattle station on the Borroloola to Burketown section of the Savannah Way. The station has more than 40km of Robinson River frontage as well as access to the Gulf of Carpentaria.
